Schönfeld estate of his friendDathe von Burgk.
Court jeweller Roesner supplied the Kings of
Saxony and had his shop in the Schloßstrasse 1
in Dresden. The shop was established in 1837.
He remained court jeweller until the Second
World War and managed the court silversmith
workshop in Dresden.

Großes Silbertablett, Offiziersge-
schenk der Garde du Corps, Berlin, 1893/94
Großes Tablett mit passig geschweiftem
Rand. Im Spiegel zentral gravierte, bekrönte
Regimentschiffre „GdC”, umgeben von
20 Wappen von damaligen Offizieren. Darun-
ter der Kommandeur Prinz Friedrich Leopold
von Preußen, sowie Prinz von Holstein, Graf
Kammerherr war Dathe von Burgk König
Friedrich August III. verbunden. Beide waren
befreundet, liebten das Militär und jagten ge-
meinsam. Als der sächsische König bei den
Unruhen 1918 aus seiner Residenz floh, fand
er Unterschlupf im Schönfelder Anwesen
seines Freundes Dathe von Burgk.
Hofjuwelier Roesner war Hoflieferant der
Könige von Sachsen und in der Schloßstrasse
1 in Dresden ansässig. Das Geschäft wurde
1837 gegründet. Bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg
war Roesner noch Hof-Juwelier und führte die
Dresdner Hofsilberschmiede-Werkstätte.
A helmet given as a present from
Maximilian Freiherr Dathe von Burgk to
Oberleutnant von Mutius of
the Regiment Garde du Corps, dated 1912
M 1889 helmet for officers of the Garde du
Corps in a heavy miniature version of solid
gilt silver (rubbed), the edge of the neck guard
with the hallmark “800”, crescent moon with
crown and the maker’s name “A. Roesner” for
the Saxon court jeweller Achim Roesner in
Dresden. Silver eagle separately applied (crown
missing), movable chinscales on officer cock-
ades and clover leaf rosettes. On the obverse the
guard star with motto “Suum Cuique” and
black enamelled Prussian eagle over green
enamelled laurel branches on white ground.

Partially slightly damaged, signs of age. Weight
ca. 860 g, height 18 cm, width 13 cm.
Unique gift of high quality, exceptionally rare
and very decorative. In the ranking of the
Royal Prussian Army of 1912, Oberleutnant
von Mutius appears in the Regiment of the
Garde du Corps as recipient of several Prussian
and Saxon distinctions.
Maximilian Freiherr Dathe von Burgk (1853 -
1931) became owner of the “Freiherrlich von
Burgker Steinkohlen- und Eisenhüttenwerke”
(coal and ironworks) in 1897 and was one of the
richest Saxons of his time. His mother was
Helene Elenore Marianne, née von Mutius
(1826 - 1905). The families Dathe von Burgk
and von Mutius were related. As royal Saxon
chamberlain, Dathe von Burgk was loyal to
King Frederick August III. They were friends,
loved the military and went hunting together.
When the Saxon king fled from his residence
during riots in 1918, he sought refuge in the

Hohenau, Graf Schulenburg, Graf Arnim,
Graf Gneisenau und Graf Dohna. Auf der
Rückseite punziert mit Feingehaltsstempel
„800” neben Halbmond und Krone, ungedeu-
tete Herstellerpunze und Nummer „96581”.
