On the inside of the front grip strap and the grip marked “408”. Ahead of the trigger guard marked “U.S.”, on trigger guard front left “G”, front right “0”. Six shots. Bright bore with seven grooves. Barrel length 7½”. V-notch rear sight in hammer, pin front sight. Frame and back strap brass. Traces of blue on the cylin- der, else turned brown, some colour case hard- ening left on the loading lever. Simple scroll work stamped into the frame, the breech end of the barrel and parts of the loading lever. Punch marks on the bottom side of the grip. Smooth dark walnut grips.
