| 557 A Viking necklace with gold pendant, 9th - 10th century A silver chain, length 75 cm. At both ends en- closed by a 4.3 cm long cylinder. On each end a relatively coarse wire loop to which the trap- ezoidal, gold-plated silver pendant is attached. The frame of the openworked pendant is deco- rated with punched circular eyes. In the almost triangular picture field in borre/jelling style a griffin animal holding a lion(?) captive. Intact. Length of the pendant 4.2 cm. Weight 83,2 g. Im Bereich der leicht einziehenden Schulter vergoldete Zierzone mit zwei geflochtenen Bändern. Der abgesetzte kurze, leicht koni- sche Rand ebenfalls mit einer Doppelreihe geometrischer Bänder verziert. In der Art der Dekoration wirkt wikingischer Einfluss nach. Intakt ohne Ergänzungen. Höhe 7,5 cm. Durchmesser 13,5 cm. Gewicht 116,1 g. Provenienz: Aus alter deutscher Sammlung. Erworben vor 1980 im Kunsthandel. An East European silver Viking bowl, partially gilded, 11th - 12th century Hemispherical silver bowl with geometric dec- oration. On the shoulder a gilded decorative zone with two bands. The short, slightly coni- cal rim also decorated with a double row of geometric bands. The decoration is influenced by Viking art. Intact without additions. Height 7.5 cm. Diameter 13.5 cm.
