| 549 683 Eiserner Spitzkegelhelmmit kurzer Brünne, khasarisch, 10. - 11. Jhdt. Zweiteilige Glocke. Die obere Hälfte des Helms in einer stumpfen Spitze auslaufend. Die untere, breite, bandförmige Hälfte mit einer Höhe von ca. 10 cm. Beide Teile ver- schweißt. Über der Stirn sehr schmaler Sicht- schutz. Am Unterrand umlaufend gelocht zur Befestigung der Helmbrünne, von der ein Teil erhalten und hinten modern befestigt ist (Länge 6 cm - 12 cm). Auf beiden Seiten kur- zer (5 cm lang), ehemals scharniergelager- ter Wangenschutz, der modern mit Leder an der Helminnenseite befestigt ist. Insgesamt bis auf die Spitze gute Eisensubstanz. Kon­ serviert. Die Spitze rekonstruiert. Höhe ca. 19,5 cm. Länge 22,5 cm. Äußerst seltener Helmtyp. Provenienz: Aus litauischem Kunsthandel. Beiliegend Rechnung des Ancient Arms and Armour Store von 1976. A Khasarianian iron helmet, 12th - 13th century Two-piece iron calotte. The upper half of the helmet ends in a blunt tip. The lower wide, band-shaped half with a height of ap- prox. 10 cm. Both parts welded. Perforated at the sides and the back near the lower edge for the attachment of the aventail, of which one part is preserved and attached at the back in a modern way (length 6 cm - 12 cm). On both sides short (5 cm long), formerly hinged cheek protection, which is fastened in a modern way with leather on the inside of the helmet.
