| 513 Superlative metal substance. Varyingly stained, green patina, becoming azurite coloured in places around the edges. The patina with no spots of corrosion in the underlying metal skull. The sheet metal 3 to almost 5 mm thick at the edges. Height 23 cm. Length from the forehead to the neck guard 26 cm. Weight 1.54 kg. As with virtually all known speci­ mens of helmets of the Buggenum type to date (except for lot no. 1530 in Hermann Historica’s Auction 63 in October 2011), the cheek pieces have been lost. The infantry helmet in pristine condition, with no re­ placements or deformations, dating from the period of the Roman civil wars of the Caesarean and post-Caesarean era until the beginning of the Imperial Era.
