498 | 622 Zwei spätarchaische bronzene Henkel­ attaschen, Griechenland, um500 v. Chr. Bronzene Henkelattaschen wohl einer Hydria mit faszettiertem horizontalen Griff und oben runden, unten spitzen Attaschen. Unterhalb der Henkelansätze jeweils ein stilisierter bär- tiger Silenskopf. Sehr guter Erhaltungszu- stand mit ausgezeichneter Patina. Breite 13,5 cm. Höhe der Attaschen 12 cm. Provenienz: Aus westdeutscher Privatsamm- lung, erworben auf demKunstmarkt vor 1980. Impressive, red-figured bell krater. The main image area presenting a Dionysian scene in fine, highly sophisticated painting: at the cen- tre a seated youth with a wreath, draped only in a robe from the waist down, with a thyrsus staff in his left and a wreath in his right hand. Before him stands a maenad with a bowl, behind him another youth. Both also holding a thyrsus staff. Two men on the back, both dressed in a long himation and facing each other, one ap- pearing to present the other with a stave, the symbol of the bourgeoisie. The painting here significantly reduced. Expertly restored from several fragments. Intact. Height 42.5 cm. Diameter 41.5 cm. P rovenance : From a private collection in Germany, acquired on the English art market in the 1990s. 265057 € 5.000 623 Großer rotfiguriger Krater, Unteritalien/Apulien, 5. Jhdt. v. Chr. Eindrucksvoller rofiguriger Glockenkrater. Das Hauptbildfeld bietet in sehr differenzier- ter, feiner Malerei eine dionysische Szene: Zentral ein sitzender, nur mit Hüftmantel be- kleideter, bekränzter Jüngling nach links mit Thyrsosstab in der Linken und Kranz in der Rechten. Vor ihm eine Mänade mit Schale, hinter ihm ein weiterer Jüngling. Beide eben- falls mit dem Thyrsosstab. Auf der Rückseite stehen sich zwei mit langem Himation beklei- dete Männer gegenüber, von denen der eine dem anderen einen Stock – das Zeichen der Bürgerlichkeit – zu reichen scheint. Die Male- rei ist hier deutlich reduzierter. Aus mehreren Scherben fachmännisch restauriert. Intakt. Höhe 42,5 cm. Durchmesser 41,5 cm. Provenienz: Aus in Deutschland verwahrter Privatsammlung. Erworben in den 1990er Jahren im englischen Kunsthandel.
