Nach einem Gemälde von Giuseppe Cesari (Februar 1568 – Juli 1640), oder auch Il Gius- eppino, gen. Cavaliere d’Arpino, heute imMu- seum der Bildenden Künste in Budapest. Klei- ne Elfenbeinplatte, sehr fein in Kupferstich- manier graviert. Unten rechts bez. „Musini”, möglicherweise Cesare Mussini (*05.07.1804 Berlin; †24.05.1879 Florenz). Diana, Göttin der Jagd, wird im Kreise ihrer Nymphen vom Jäger Aktäon überrascht. Daraufhin verwan- delt Diana den Jäger in einen Hirsch. In ebo- nisiertem Flammenleistenrahmen mit Nuss- baumwurzelumrandung sowie vergoldeter, verglaster Messingeinfassung. Sehr guter Zu- stand. Minimale Altersspuren. Plakette 8,3 x 11,5 cm. A fine Italian ivory plaque with a painted scene, “Diana transforming Actaeon into a stag”, signed Musini, 19th century After a painting by Giuseppe Cesari (February 1568 – July 1640), or Il Giuseppino, known as Cavaliere d’Arpino, today in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. A small ivory plaque, very delicately engraved in copperplate style. Signed “Musini” at the bottom right, possibly Cesare Mussini (* 5 July 1804 Berlin; † 24 May 1879 Florence). Diana, goddess of the hunt, is surprised by the hunter Actaeon while bathing with her nymphs. Diana thereupon transforms the hunter into a stag. In an ebonised, flame moulded frame with a border of walnut root wood, and a gilt, glazed, brass edge. In excel- lent condition. Minimal traces of age.
