Im Querformat auf­ gebrachte Nachricht in schwarzer Farbe „Excusez-moi suis obligé sortir 6h BRE- BANT”, darunter bezeichnet „Degas”. Am unteren Rand unvollständig, die oberen Ecken beschädigt. Maße 41 x 32,5 cm. „Le Brebant” ist ein in der Boulevard Poisson- nière 32 gelegenes, seit 1865 bestehendes Café und Restaurant. Im 19. Jhdt. wurde es von zahlreichen Mitgliedern der intellektuellen Elite, darunter auch dem Maler Edgar Degas (1834 - 1917), regelmäßig frequentiert. Provenienz: Nach Einliefererangaben aus dem Nachlass des Concierge in einem der von Degas bewohnten Gebäude in Paris. Dimensions 41 x 32.5 cm. “Le Brebant” is a café and restaurant located at Boulevard Poissonnière 32 established in 1865. In the 19th century it was frequented by members of the intellectual elite, among them the painter Edgar Degas (1834-1917).
