670 | A model 1853 helmet for officers of the ducal infantry High skull and visors of black patent leather, fittings of gilt non-ferrous metal. Star with four silver-plated and four gilt rays, topped by a finely enamelled medallion of the Ernestine House Order with crossed swords, in the centre a five-pointed crown and motto “Fideliter et Constanter”. Leather-backed, convex chinscales on lion head rosettes, on the right the cockade of silver thread and green cloth. Firmly fixed, smooth spike with ball finial, unscrewable for the parade bush, the base with bead-and-reel motif, original screw-mounted cruciform plate. Fine, excellently preserved lining with leather flaps, front visor lined in green, rear visor with red lining. Inside the skull the old handwritten inscription “23 1/2 B.”. Slight traces of wear and age. Stern mit vier versilberten und vier vergoldeten Strahlen, darauf in fein emaillierter Ausführung das Medaillon des Ernestinischen Hausordens mit gekreuzten Schwertern, im Zentrum eine fünfzackige Krone und die Devise „Fideliter et Constanter”. Lederunterfütterte, konvexe Schuppenketten an Löwenkopfrosetten, rechts die Kokarde aus Silberfaden und grünem Stoff. Feste, glatte Spitze mit Kugel als Abschluss, abschraubbar für den Paradebusch, Basis mit Perlstab, original verschraubtes Kreuzblatt. Feines, sehr gut erhaltenes Lederlaschenfutter, grün gefütterter Vorder- und rot ge­ fütterter Nackenschirm. In der Glocke die alte handschriftliche Bezeich- nung „23 1/2 B.”. Leichte Trage- und Altersspuren. Außergewöhnlich gut erhaltener, früher, hochrangiger Helm von größter Seltenheit.
