Vergoldung partiell berieben und leichte Spu- ren von Oxidation. Sichel fehlt. Höhe 54 cm (mit Sockel 68 cm). Kronos ist in der griechischen Mythologie ein mächtiger Titan und gleichfalls Anführer der Titanen. SeineMutter Gaia die personifizierte Erde und sein Vater Uranos die Personifikati- on des Himmels. Nach der Entmannung sei- nes Vaters mit der Sichel stieg Kronos zum Herrscher der Welt auf und begründete das Goldene Zeitalter. Aus der Ehe mit seiner Schwester Rhea gingen wichtige Gottheiten der griechischen Mythologie wie Hestia, Ha- des, Poseidon, Demeter und Hera sowie des mächtigsten und wohl auch bekanntesten der späteren olympischen Götter, Zeus, hervor. Finely crafted, extremely detailed bronze cast with original fire-gilding, precisely chiselled in places. Mounted on a sol- id, contoured, whitish-green marble pedestal of later date. The gilding abraded in places. Slight traces of oxidation. The sickle has been lost. Height 54 cm (including pedestal 68 cm).
