| 41 A Luristan bronze standard top, 1000 - 650 B.C. A beautifully made bronze finial or standard top. The finial has the typical form of an an- thropomorphic tube which on either side de- picts the stylized face of a human or - more likely - of a god. On either side of the figure we see the gaping mouth of a predator or a demon- ic creature. Green, slightly encrusted patina. Length 19 cm. Weight 185 g. Bronze mit grünlich-rötlicher, auf der Innen- seite stärker verkrusteter Patina. Im Quer- schnitt rechteckige Biss-Stange mit seitlich eingerollten Enden. Die beiden Seitenbügel jeweils in Form eines durchbrochen gearbeite- ten, halbplastischen Pferdes mit oberseitig zwei kräftigen Riemenösen und rückseitig zwei stumpfen Dornen. Breite 19 cm. Provenienz: Belgische Privatsammlung, da- vor englische Privatsammlung. Seit 2015 in Kommission im deutschen Kunsthandel. Luristan bronze snaffle, 1st millenium B.C. Bronze with greenish-red patina, more en- crusted on the inside. In cross-section rectan- gular bite stick with laterally curled ends. Width 19 cm.
