22 | 1602 Kanope mit Amset-Deckel, Ägypten, 26. Dynastie, 664 - 525 v. Chr. Ovaloider Eingeweidekrug für die Leber ei- nes Mumifizierten aus Alabaster. Der Deckel zeigt das jugendliche Antlitz des menschen- köpfigen Horussohnes Amset, unter dessen magischem Schutz der Inhalt der Kanope stand. Er war neben Duamutef, Kebechsenuef und Hapi einer der vier Horus-Söhne, die alle- samt für den Schutz der Eingeweide zuständig waren und die seit der 19. Dynastie in men- schen- bzw. tiergestaltiger Form auf Kanopen- deckeln dargestellt wurden. Reste dunkler Farbpigmente um die fein ge- schnittenen Augen und auf der Stirn am An- satz des Kopftuches. Hinter dem linken Ohr kleine, alte Absplitterung, leichte Bestoßun- gen amDeckelrand. Sonst in hervorragendem Zustand. Höhe 38 cm. Provenienz: Aus einer belgischen Privat- sammlung, erworben 2011 auf dem schwedi- schen Kunstmarkt. Zuvor wohl Sammlung James Keiller (1836 - 1918), Särö, Schweden. Seit 2015 in Kommission bei einem deutschen Kunsthändler. An Egyptian canopic jar with Imseti lid, 26th dynasty, 664 - 525 B.C. Ovaloid canopic jar of alabaster for the liver of a mummified person. The lid shows the face of the young, man-headed Imseti, son of Horus, under whose magical protection the contents were placed. Besides Duamutef, Qebehsenuef and Hapi he was one of the four sons of Horus, who had been responsible for the protection of the viscera and were represented on the lids of canopic jars in human or animal form since the 19th dynasty. Traces of dark colour pigments around the finely cut eyes and on the forehead at the base of the headscarf. Small old chip behind the left ear, slight knocks at the rim of the lid.
