In der terzseitigen Kehlung stilisier- ter, in Messing eingelegter Wolf, die Gegen- seite gestempelt „I H M“. Eisernes, in Resten vergoldetes Spangengefäß mit S-förmiger Parierstange und flachovalem Eisenknauf. Originale Hilze aus Messing- und Kupfer- draht mit (typisch für Rapiere aus Sachsen) drei Türkenbünden. Klinge minimal schartig. Länge 119,5 cm. Provenienz: Zeughaus der sächsischen Kur- fürsten. Ein nahezu identisches Exemplar aus dem Militärhistorischen Museum Dresden wurde bei Rudolph Lepke in Berlin am 1. Mai 1927 unter der Los-Nr. 87 versteigert. A rapier, Saxony, circa 1600 The double-edged thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section, with a sturdy ricasso. A stylised wolf, inlaid in brass, in the obverse fuller, the opposite side stamped “I H M”. The iron swept hilt with remnants of gilding, S-shaped quillons and flat oval, iron pommel. The original grip wound with brass and copper wire, with three Turk’s heads (as is typical of rapiers from Saxony). The blade with minimal notching. Length 119.5 cm. P rovenance : Dresden armoury of the Prince Electors of Saxony. A virtually identical sword from the Bundeswehr Military History Muse- um Dresden was sold at auction by Rudolph Lepke in Berlin on 1 May 1927, lot no. 87. 258953 II € 12.000 3749
