| 157 A Japanese kakae tsutsu, 2nd half of Edo period Heavy hand mortar with bronze barrel dating from the 2nd half of the Edo period, ichikakku/maru barrel decorated with karabana mon at the powder chamber. The ichikakku form turning into maru form after baluster and maru muzzle. At the top sujiwari (rear sight), shogi sa­ kimeate (front sight), and four kanji “Ichi Tsu (?) Tate Yajiri” (“The only true shield against arrow heads”?), no inscription. Smooth brass lock with internal spring and iron hammer, fire pan and fire lid missing. Clear lacquered full stock of Tosa type. Barrel length 69 cm, overall length 106 cm, 64.5 mm calibre (440 monme). Heavy hand mortars were used in Japan for sieges to fire flame and explosive projectiles. 256797 II - € 7.000 3470 Kakae Tsutsu, Japan, 2. Ichikakku-Form nach Baluster in Maru-Form über- gehend sowie Maru-Mündung. Auf der Oberseite Sujiwari (Kimme) und Shogi Sakimeate (Korn) sowie vier Kanji „Ichi Tsu (?) Tate Yajiri“ („Einzig wahrer Schild gegen Pfeispitzen (?)“), unbezeichnet. Glattes Messingschloss mit innenliegender Feder und eisernem Hahn, Feuer- schirm und Pfannendeckel fehlen. Gelackter Vollschaft vomTosa-Typ. Lauflänge 69 cm, Gesamtlänge 106 cm, Kaliber 64,5 mm (440 Monme). Schwere Handmörser wurden in Japan bei Belagerungen zum Ver- schießen von Brand- und Sprenggeschossen verwendet.
