Each piece bears the engraved monogram „ON“ beneath a grand ducal coronet and the crowned Russian double-headed eagle, St. Petersburg hallmarks for „84“ zolotniki, an inspection mark for Dmitry Ilich Tverskoi „1840“, and the work master‘s mark „H.A.L.“ (Henrik August Long). The polished steel knife blades are stamped with the mark „N & P“. Length of the forks 21.5 cm, weight 358 g. Length of the knives 29 cm. Total weight 797 g. The comprehensive silver service was commissioned by Tsar Nicholas as part of the dowry of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna to mark her 18th birthday in 1840.
